Elizabeth Parker is a 27 year old English teacher who is waiting to be found. Like the secrets of her past, her beauty is hidden, concealed behind modest clothes and a gentle nature. Her nights are spent listening to music and reading; fictional characters whisk her away to exotic destinations and lovers come and go. Sadly none remain once she turns over the final page. It’s then she finds herself estranged from the world outside her window. All she can do is secretly wish for more, wish for love, wish for a man like Ayden Stone ….
Into her secluded world enter two powerful men, one from her past and one very much in the present; both are loners, both intimidating, both desiring her sexually with a craving that threatens to erupt and overspill at a moment’s notice like champagne from a bottle. Initially, she cannot grasp the magnitude of their desire; it’s an alien concept for one so inexperienced and uninitiated in the art of seduction. Handsome 32 year old playboy, Ayden Stone is flawless; he’s a smooth operator, as skilled in the bedroom as he is in the boardroom. He has a taste for rare and beautiful things, and he longs to taste the beguiling Miss Parker. He’ll stop at nothing to add her to his collection of exquisite possessions. Ayden and Beth are drawn to each other like iron fillings to a magnet: helpless, stripped bare, literally and metaphorically. All the glitz and glamour of his five-star life-style is contrasted with less extravagant pastimes; intimacy gives rise to passion and passion to playfulness and the realisation of a fateful connection.
In the shadows lurks former boxer Dan Rizler. He’s biding his time but never loses sight of the object of his desire: precious Miss Parker. He has an obsessive love for her that is neurotic in nature and terrifying in the extreme. His tormented soul reaches out to her with merciless hands: he must have her.
TouchStone for play is a genuine 21st century love story with the sensitivity to move you to tears; to have you laugh out loud, to rouse your fears and to exhilarate. Some of the sex is very erotic and raunchy at times, particularly towards the end of the book when there are confessions and revelations that will shock you. Very little is as it seems and a dramatic climax will leave you breathless with anticipation.
This modern fairy tale is full of romantic moments, music and monstrous encounters. Elizabeth Parker is about to be found but will she be bound by her destiny or by her demon …

Sydney has worked in Insurance, Fashion and in advertising as a Copywriter and Commercial Journalist. She obtained her English Degree and made a sideways move into teaching in 1997 and, six years later, became Head of English in a High School, making it her mission in life to introduce young people to a range of quality reading material. Her mission is to foster a love of all things creative in my students and encourage them to find that creativity within themselves.

For as long as I can remember, I have lived with The Story of Us in my head; the fact that Elizabeth Parker is an English teacher should come as no surprise to you: as novelists we write, initially, about what we know … Yet, I should confess, she isn’t me but rather that young, sensitive and naïve woman we all were or still are. The difference being, she has been victimised and, because of it, remained hidden. But, unlike some other characters who may have suffered at the hands of others, she is not damaged: wary yes, but not damaged. She still believes people are innately good and that is one of her many qualities. It is her propensity for compassion that allows her to invite Ayden Stone into her world when, on the face of it, he’s exactly what she doesn’t need.
So that’s me, furiously typing away until the early hours, creating an epic tale that covers an 18 month period, taking three novels to unveil the intricacies of a 21st century fairy tale
